The Spanish Cinema Academy presented Javier Fesser‘s film Camino (The Road) with six Goya film awards at a ceremony held in Madrid this weekend.
Camino, “the riskiest and politically most uncomfortable” candidate according to the daily El Mundo, depicts the influential conservative Catholic organization Opus Dei in a critical light. It won awards for best film, best director, best original screenplay, best actress, best new actress, and best supporting actor.
Other Goya winners include Benicio Del Toro for best actor in Che an Penelope Cruz for best supporting actress in Vicky Cristina Barcelona.
