Battlestar Galactica season 4 teaser, Razor flashbacks, Caprica

A teaser for the fourth and final season of Battlestar Galactica has popped up online recently and can be seen on YouTube.

Season three left us with a major cliffhanger, with four important characters realizing that they’re Cylons, the burning question about who the fifth Cylon is, Starbuck coming back from Earth, which does exist in the BSG universe, as does Bob Dylan apparently, and the implication that that’s where the survivors from the Colonies are headed next.The teaser suggests that this may be put on hold a little longer, as they don’t seem to believe that that’s where Starbuck was since she had gone mad and missing in Maelstrom. We also see Laura Roslin shooting someone, the ship possibly being attacked by Cylons again, Tigh pointing a gun at Adama and Anders telling Starbuck “If you’re a Cylon, then you’ve been one since the beginning.” (For the record, in April, executive producer David Eick was quoted saying “My goal was to mislead the audience into thinking Kara Thrace was a Cylon” - source, so there are still several contenders for the fifth model. Personally, I’m still hoping it’s Zarek.) Cylon wannabe Baltar has a group of followers, the same bunch who rescued him in the last episode, and he seems to have tricked them into believing he is a healer. And we see Six telling Roslin she can feel the final five models close. Having those two in the same scene - always cool.

So the options for possible new storylines that were brought up in Crossroads are still pretty much open. Season four doesn’t air until next year, but the BSG universe won’t be AWOL that long. The TV movie Razor airs on November 24, followed by an unrated extended DVD release, and some flashbacks/previews can be found at SciFi.com and on YouTube. Razor will tell the story of Lee Adama’s first mission as Pegasus commander and elaborate on the events on that battlestar under commander Cain after the Cylon attack. The movie will also provide some background for events in season four and introduce a new character who will become a regular when the series returns next year. On top of that, lately there have been rumours that the Caprica spin-off might be moving ahead, but Eick says that he and Ron Moore are still waiting to hear from SciFi on that one. Described as the “first science fiction family saga” that will “weave together corporate intrigue, techno action and sexual politics,” Caprica will (hopefully) tell the tale of two families, the Graystones and the Adamas, and deal with the creation of the first Cylons some 50 years before the events in the series.
